Molendotech
Relaunching an environmental testing disruptor
The Challenge
Molendotech approached us to raise awareness for the relaunch of its water quality testing game-changer ahead of bathing season.
Molendotech is a spin-out from the University of Plymouth, developing rapid, science-led solutions for environmental testing. Its flagship product, Bacterisk, enables water quality testing in just 15 minutes – a significant step forward from the standard 24–48-hour timeframe.
With limited external visibility at that point, we were brought in to generate national, regional, and industry awareness in a short timeframe, positioning Molendotech as a crucial player in the water safety space.
Our messaging had to remain neutral and science-first – Molendotech isn’t an activist brand, but a solutions provider – and we needed to engage carefully in a space dominated by ongoing political, regulatory, and environmental tensions.

The Solution
Translating technical science into real-world relevance
We started by digging into Molendotech’s story: the scientific credibility behind the product, the academic roots, and the broader application of their technology. From there, we shaped messaging that spoke to regulators, industry stakeholders, and the general public alike.
We developed a targeted press release to coincide with the relaunch of Bacterisk, positioning the product as an innovative solution with urgent relevance as water quality continued to dominate headlines.
Key highlights included:
-
Collaborating with University of Plymouth’s internal team, with a BBC spotlight TV feature
-
Generating widespread regional and industry coverage in outlets like Insider Media, Envirotec, South West Tech Daily, and UKTN
-
Pitching Molendotech’s leadership – including CEO Rui Andres and CSO Professor Simon Jackson – as informed, balanced spokespeople for comment opportunities
-
Carefully navigating media discussions around pollution, testing standards, and water safety while positioning Molendotech as a neutral, science-first innovator
-
Securing a guest feature for Molendotech on the South West Tech Daily podcast to reach a specialist regional tech audience
-
Placing a long-form profile interview with Rui Andres in Business Age, giving a platform to the CEO to explain the technology, purpose, and future vision of the company in his own words – amplified the personal and mission-driven narrative behind Molendotech and built further trust with external audiences
This approach generated consistent momentum and helped establish Molendotech’s visibility across key sectors in just three months.
